UNITY's PEACE Event 2009 Photo Gallery
The Peace & Unity Event held on Saturday 4th April 2009 at the Seaburn Centre was well attended. The venue was packed with many different stallholders ranging from henna art to an NHS body MOT stall. Activities included arts and crafts, calligraphy writing, table tennis, five aside, badminton and face painting.
Councillor Paul Watson (leader of the City Council), Dean Huggins (BME Network Coordinator) and Mr Tahir Khan (Chairperson of Unity) made speeches, which was then followed by a spectacular dove release, kindly supplied free by Spirit of a Dove.
Multicultural artists entertained the crowd throughout the day including Jambo Africa, the Indian Society and Divalicious dance group not to mention a multicultural fashion show organised by Young Asian Voices and Shameem’s School of dance.
Delicious food was available which was provided by Naz Restaurant whilst there was also Indonesian and French food samples there for anyone to try.
Overall it was a good day and enjoyed by many. Verbal and written compliments have since been received.
There is a video diary, photo CD and video of the day available upon request for a minimum donation of £5 each.
